He's not quite sure what he'll do with them yet, but Hawthorne has been collecting samples of any berries or things with colors that strike him. He makes a hushed little sound of excitement when he spots a glossy blue-black feather on the ground outside the Gastrognome, and practically hops forward to scoop it up.
He doesn't even break any glass or trip anyone when he does, though a clay pot does fall out of a window above and nearly take his head off. He stares in stunned silence for a second, then puts his attention on his shiny new prize. This would be a nice color for ink.
