More intrigue at the bowling alley. I think those sketchy vines are spreading - I'm pretty sure I saw some under the door to the basement. And I'm really sick of Bob Dylan.

As your Charms TA: If your freezing charms suck come talk to me and I'll help you suck less. That seems like the best way to deal with them, unless I've missed something else somewhere.

Think? Did they retreat? I need to get a key to the basement.

Fire/ice dichotomy.

[Patrice]

I have a favor to ask.

I'm perfectly capable.

Yes. And several notebooks, because the board overflowed. Yes. Well, and Pocket, perhaps. She seems to be in opposition to the 'weeds' as she calls them.

[Patrice]

Lionel wants to try to go to the bowling alley basement. He'd like to have one person from each house along, if we manage. Personally, I'm not convinced he'll ever willingly let us. But perhaps. And if nothing else, we can see his reaction to being asked.

Good thing I'm just confident then.

If she did that, then she's quite powerful.

[Patrice]

I wouldn't be opposed.

Thank you.

You know, I never considered that, really. I chalked it up to illusion, but it's not simple illusion, because it leaves after effects. And the parties are so large and detailed. That does require a lot of juice.

[Patrice]

Hardly the worst thing I can think of to be called. What's the worst that could happen?

All that power, and she caters to our whims. Why?

[Patrice]

I'm not sure I believe in evil. And I'm hardly afraid of dying. Some of my favorite people are dead.

Well. Viola may have lost her nerve anyway. But I will keep you informed.

I'm not so sure we should go in there. I think whatever is in there wants us to acknowledge it.

Both Mr. Crockett and Mr. Trullinger told me they gave up their memories willingly.

"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less."

What? What did you find out? WHAT DID THEY SAY?
tristfully: (171)

[personal profile] tristfully 2020-04-27 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Marie Curie died from radiation poisoning.

[.....] We just talked. Mr. Trullinger told me a bit about what Pocket is. She's classified as a magimagicicada. He doesn't seem to know about her. He said the last known sighting of a magimagicicada hive was in the summer of 1989. I think all of Pocket's [...] siblings were wiped out. [...]

Mr. Trullinger said they were [...] eaten.

I don't imagine myself an expert. [....] Can you just ask me what you want to know?

themurderbird: (092)

[personal profile] themurderbird 2020-04-27 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but look what she accomplished first. First woman to win a Nobel Prize, first person and the only woman to win the Nobel Prize twice, and the only person to win the Nobel Prize in two different scientific fields.

I cannot BELIEVE you found out so much Were you just going to KEEP IT TO YOURSE

How did you get either of them to talk about it?
You didn't mention Mr. Crockett, what did he have to say?
Wiped out/eaten by what?

[personal profile] tristfully 2020-04-27 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Legacy is important, yes.

[.....]

It's not that they don't want to talk about it. They're just being prevented from remembering. By some oath they took, I think. [...] Pocket mentioned an oath, at least. [...] They'll tell you what they can, if you ask the right questions.

Mr. Crockett said he doesn't remember much of his youth. I showed him a yearbook I [...] took from Mr. Huang's office. Everything that has to do with Mr. Qualls and his son is crusted over with lichen, just like the records in the library. I told him that there was lichen in his brain and it was keeping him from remembering how Mr. Qualls died or anything about his son. [...] That didn't seem to surprise him. He said everything they gave up, they gave up willingly. [....] He asked me to leave Mr. Potkin and Mr. Youngblood alone. [....] I think they were very close with Mr. Qualls' son. The [...] oath, or whatever, is probably affecting them more than others.

Mr. Trullinger didn't say, exactly. He didn't seem entirely like himself. Obviously, he was struggling to remember. [...] He mentioned that they were fighting 'the thing the locals from Paw Paw called up.' I think that's what he said.

[.....]

Eaten up by plants, maybe? [...] I don't know what happened to Paw Paw.

[....] Thank you, Viola.

I can't imagine voluntarily giving up my memories for any reason.

'the thing the locals from Paw Paw called up.'? Interesting. Maybe that's how Paw Paw was destroyed.

Those do seem to be the two forces at play, don't they?

How do we know Paw Paw was destroyed and not just emptied out then reclaimed by nature tho

It's difficult to imagine.

I suspect so.

You know, there is a mural of Elflock Falls & Paw Paw beneath the mural on the main street wall of Zippy Dip. It's signed LS & PA and Mr. Zebrowski doesn't want us to see it. I haven't been able to make any sense of that but [...] it might be worth looking into.

I think we should try to figure out what's in the bowling alley basement before we open any portals via human sacrifice. I used to believe Mr. Qualls' son was being held in there but now I think that was a lie trick.

What do you mean it's gone? Did it disappear?
