what's up?

It’s sort of hard to tell if Peckenpaugh has reclaimed normalcy in the seven days since Pocket’s party. What it has is not quite peace, not quite quiet, not quite stillness, but certainly something. In brief moments and out of the corner of your eye, it seems as though a war is being fought ⁠— one that Peckenpaugh is winning ⁠— though none of the battles remain in focus long enough to tell if they’re real or imagined. Is it danger? Or just a weed problem? Has this all happened before? Answers remain difficult to find as time keeps hurrying along.

Today, the rain has finally stopped after pouring ceaselessly for more than a day. The sun is warm, temperatures climb back up once more. Adventure Club meets at the docks of Lake Peckenpaugh for a kayaking trip, and elsewhere on campus Eddy Waxweiler returns something that doesn’t belong to him…

how this works!

⬥ Right after class on Friday afternoon, Adventure Club gathers at the docks on Lake Peckenpaugh to set off for a bit of kayaking. Ms. Min, Mr. Trullinger and Mr. Youngblood are supervising the excursion.

⬥ They get about 45 minutes into their boating trip when they notice something odd on the shore…

⬥ Meanwhile, within the same window of time, Eddy Waxweiler heads to Ms. Gunzenhauser’s office to return a golden cicada shell.

⬦ KAYAKING: ON LAKE PECKENPAUGH: It’s a lovely day out on the lake. The water is tranquil, the birds are singing, and so is Mr. Trullinger. As the students paddle north up Lake Peckenpaugh, it’s easy to forget about the last week or so and just appreciate the natural beauty of the holler, or get lost in conversation while Trullinger and Youngblood shout fishing stories.

⬦ KAYAKING: SOMETHING STRANGE ON THE SHORE: About forty-five minutes into their boating trip — right before they make to turn around and head home — someone spots something strange on the shore near the trees, and perhaps against their better judgment, club members go to investigate...

⬦ ON CAMPUS: EDDY RETURNS ZELDA'S SHELL: Eddy Waxweiler has something that doesn’t belong to him. It’s time to give it back...

⬦ ON CAMPUS: OUTSIDE CENTRAL CLASSROOMS: Just as the first boats from Adventure Club reach the shores of Lake Peckenpaugh, something strange happens outside Central Classrooms…

⬦ THIS EVENING: The rest of the afternoon is somewhat tense. Security is tightened around campus, and it seems no one is able to get very far without the eyes of a staff member, auror or BoMB agent finding them.
