Pep Rally!

pep rally!!
what's up? Even if you’re not the type to indulge in school spirit you’re going to want to get down to the pitch today to check out the mayhem of Peckenpaugh’s first pep rally of the year! The sun blazes in the sky, but a light breeze makes the baking heat tolerable as students gather on the green for some spirit building exercises.

It’s Thorntrail vs. Mothgarden on the Quidditch pitch this weekend, and the banners and streamers decorating the stands and the field reflect their fierce (but friendly) rivalry. The north end of the pitch has been done up in Thorntrail’s stately autumn colors, the south in Mothgarden’s soft spring, while center field is painted with the colors and emblems of all four houses. A dozen feet off the ground, little sasquatches and mothmen zoom around on tiny toy brooms, flying in tiny circles and figure eights, leaving glittering trails of mahogany red and spring pink smoke in the air.

Things kick off when Peckenpaugh’s Marching Critters take to the turf, playing a bright and brassy rendition of Peckenpaugh’s fight song. While the band plays, Ms. Altizer and Mr. Berzelius take a moment to recognize the outstanding athletes that will be taking to the skies this Sunday. They’re supposed to take turns calling down the players from their Houses, but these two have never been all that good at sharing and it turns into a contest to see who can get all their players to the pitch first. (Thorntrail wins, by the way, though just barely.)

With the war of wills over, it’s time for the heart and soul and spirit of the school, and cheerleaders get their chance to shine. A pair of high flying routines featuring dance, acrobatics, colored smoke and a little bit of fire converge into a bit of a cheer off as the squads from Mothgarden and Thorntrail lead the crowd of students and staff in separate House chants. At the end, the House that’s received the loudest cheers is awarded Peckenpaugh’s Spirit Stick until the next pep rally. And with the Spirit Stick awarded, the mayhem can truly begin...

volunteer slots! Armani Addams waits until no one's looking and manages to nab one of the little flying toy mothmen out of the air when it swoops down low. This'll make a nice prize (or prank) for later.

The Thorntrail mascot dummy scares the absolute bejeezus out of [CHARACTER B] when it sneezes during the water balloon fight.
how this works!

CHANT-OFF: Squatch vs Moth

  • We're having a bit of a spirit contest. Anyone can post to the CHANT-OFF header below, whether or not you're a Thorntrailer or Mothgardener. Just let us know in the comment who your character is rooting for, and we'll give you a roll to tell you how loud your were for your chosen House.
  • The loudest House wins the Spirit Stick until the next pep rally!
    • What’s the Spirit Stick? Once upon a time, the Spirit Stick could be used to temporarily charm things in your house’s colors—perfect for showing off your school spirit at the big game! But the charm’s gotten a little busted over the years and now it turns everything into a technical error test card, high-pitched tone and all. It’s really better suited to pranks these days.

WATER BALLOONS: TAKE DOWN THE MASCOTS

  • There's a semi-sentient mascot dummy for each of the four houses rolled onto the field after the rest of the festivities, and buckets of water balloons placed at either side of the field. It's time for the reason you're all surely here: to make a damn mess!
  • The goal of the game is to take down the other mascots! To do that, everyone gets 3 water balloons in their house colors. As if inspired by an earlier incident with Gatorade, the balloons will stain everything they touch with that color, so hopefully you’re wearing something that looks good tie-dyed! Or not!
    • Most of the stains should fade in a couple hours. Boy would it be embarrassing to be stained the wrong color during the game.
  • To get started: Post a header for yourself below your House. Then, you are free to comment up to three times on mascots or other player characters to signify that you've attacked them with a water balloon. We'll swing by and roll.
    • You can attack the mascots directly (by commenting on the mascot headers) for more effective damage, or distract your friends with a balloon to the butt and let the freshmen rush the mascots.
  • CHEERLEADERS!: Each cheerleader is able to roll one ADDITIONAL time to heal their mascot for up to 10HP. The heal cannot exceed the mascot's max HP. Cheerleaders comment to your mascot to give them some school spirit and perk them up.
  • The winners of the game will be the recipients of a make your own sundae party next month! You'll have until SUNDAY 9/22, 11:59PM EST to get your forms in and contribute toward that cause.
locations! 🎉 CHANT-OFF: Squatch vs Moth: It’s Squatch vs. Moth this Sunday, and these rival houses are amped and ready to show who’s got the most spirit! Thorntrail and Mothgarden cheer squads lead their houses in a fierce CHANT-OFF; whichever house contributes the most to their peers’ hearing loss gets custody of the Spirit Stick until the next rally!

🎉 DEFEAT the MASCOTS!: Once all that school spirit nonsense is cleared off the field, cheerleaders roll out four dummies dressed to look like each of the four houses. The Deeplurker looks a little lopsided, but a failure to stand up straight never stopped a sea serpent before.

🎉 PEP RALLY: Hiding out under the stands? Sitting with your friends shooting wizard silly string from your wands? Want to act out your cheer routine? Spots for pep rally scenes can go here!

Armani has to do a double take to make sure that noise actually came from Eddy.
