QUIDDITCH MATCH #8: WILDGULCH vs DEEPLURK

WILDGULCH

vs

DEEPLURK
the game Spring break is officially over and students return to a mess of rain and snow as the temperature fluctuates throughout the day. It’s sure to make for one mess of a quidditch match, which is maybe why so many students and locals have gathered in the stands despite the weather.

  • 00:00:00 - 00:10:00

    • Wildgulch Beater Strauss dominates the field right out the gate, clearing a path. His bludger buzzes Chaser Clutterbuck in particular, who narrowly avoids injury. Deeplurk’s Beater Rainwater sees a much rougher start and can’t get a handle on the bludger at all.

    • In the first 10 minutes there’s just one shot attempt. Wildgulch Chaser McKelvey shoots, but it’s easily blocked by Jacobs.

    • SCORES: n/a.

  • 00:10:01 - 00:20:00

    • Bludgers flying on both sides in this span. Santiago is injured by Stoppelbein. Seeker Jones (impressive - skillful bonus) and Chaser U. Hatfield are also disrupted by Stoppelbein. Strauss disrupts Clutterbuck again.

    • Beater Rainwater doing much better this round.

    • Deeplurk’s Wiggins-Waite shoots in this round. Blocked easily by Zhao.

    • SCORES: n/a.

  • 00:20:01 - 00:30:00

    • Santiago scores the first goal of the game (v impressive moves). Then Kokinos (narrowly) scores as well. Zhao blocks shots from Wiggins-Waite (easily) and Clutterbuck (narrowly - skillful bonus). U. Hatfield (inexperienced/new teammate penalty) can’t find an opening to make a shot.

    • McKelvey disrupted by Stoppelbein. Strauss disrupted by Rainwater.

    • Zettler flew just beautifully this round.

    • SCORES: 10 - 10

  • 00:30:01 - 00:40:00

    • McKelvey scores (v impressive moves).

    • Kokinos shoots, narrowly blocked by Zhao. Santiago shoots, easily blocked by Jacobs.

    • Rainwater steals bludger from Strauss. U. Hatfield disrupted by Rainwater.

    • SCORES: 20 - 10

  • 00:40:01 - 00:50:00

    • Deeplurk Beaters dominate this round, working in tandem to ruin Wildgulch’s day. McKelvey, Santiago and U. Hatfield all fumble quaffles because of Deeplurk bludgers in this 10 minute span (2 Stoppelbein - narrowly, skillful bonus & 1 Rainwater). Jones is also thrown off course of the snitch by Rainwater. Zettler is almost caught, but flies too deftly.

    • Kokinos is injured by Strauss.

    • No shot attempts on either side this round.

    • SCORES: 20 - 10

  • 00:50:01 - 00:60:00

    • U. Hatfield scores (v impressive moves), without assistance.

    • Kokinos again narrowly blocked by Zhao.

    • Zhao has an almost run-in with a bludger from Stoppelbein. Rainwater is injured by a bludger from Strauss.

    • Both Zettler and Jones flew especially pretty this round.

    • SCORES: 30 - 10

  • 01:00:01 - 01:10:00

    • Santiago scores (narrowly).

    • U. Hatfield is injured by Stoppelbein (minor).

    • Keeper Jacobs blocks McKelvey (average). Keeper Zhao blocks W-W and Clutterbuck (both average blocks). Assisted by excellent bludger work from Villaverde.

    • Both seekers still lookin’ real nice up there.

    • SCORES: 40 - 10

  • 01:10:01 - 01:20:00

    • Clutterbuck scores (impressive). Then McKelvey scores (average, assisted by U. Hatfield).

    • Stoppelbein and W-W disrupted by excellent bludger work from Strauss.

    • U. Hatfield and Kokinos are blocked when shooting.

    • SCORES: 50 - 20

  • 01:30:01 - 01:40:00

    • W-W and Kokinos rack up rapid-fire Deeplurk goals (v impressive).

    • Clutterbuck is injured by Villaverde.

    • McKelvey and U. Hatfield blocked by Jacobs.

    • SCORES: 50 - 40

  • 01:40:01 - 01:50:00

    • W-W scores (amazing goal).

    • Clutterbuck and Kokinos fly poorly.

    • Santiago disrupted by Stoppelbein’s bludger (narrowly - skillful bonus).

    • U. Hatfield and McKelvey shoot and are (narrowly) blocked.

    • Villaverde is injured (minor) by Stoppelbein.

    • SCORES: 50 - 50

  • 01:50:01 - 02:00:00

    • U. Hatfield (narrowly) scores.

    • Shots from McKelvey, Santiago and W-W are blocked (all average). A shot from Clutterbuck is blocked by Zhao (narrowly - skillful bonus).

    • Kokinos disrupted by Strauss.

    • Seekers start out head-to-head, but Zettler gains advantage and nabs the snitch, no contest.

    • SCORES: 60 - 100 (60 - 50 w/o snitch)

See, this is the kind of game you want recruiters to see. Even if the ones they end up at are the ones where he fell on his head, inevitably. Ah, well. There’s glory today. When he catches the snitch, it’s with windswept curls and a victory lap. Give him this one stupid minute of vanity.

    IN THE STANDS: Felicity

Felicity, decked out head-to-toe in Wildgulch gear, cheers indiscriminately throughout the match. For good Wildgulch plays, for impressive cheerleading throws, and at the refs for missing yet another foul (subjective, possibly biased). And when Tybalt grabs the snitch to end the match, Felicity groans into her hands, before lifting her head and pointing and yelling, "A rat! He's a rat!"

She returns to her dorm with a big smile. An amazing afternoon, over all.

    IN THE STANDS: Merlin

    [personal profile] merlinpletcher 2020-04-25 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
While Merlin isn't dedicated to Quidditch in the same way that some other Peckenpaugh players are, he does take it seriously. He works hard. And part of that hard work includes attending the matches of the other teams to observe strategy and technique. So his showing up here today isn't anything unusual and he definitely doesn't care who actually wins. Still. His willingness to cheer for good hits and good shots does seem to be a bit one-sided throughout the game. And his dark hair does seem to have a violet sheen to it upon close inspection. And when Deeplurk takes the win, he does jump to his feet to holler in victory along with the green-clad students scattered throughout the stands.

    But so what?

    That's nobody's business but his.

    Nobody asked you.

Honestly I actually prefer this format over the paragraph one. I find it easier to follow.
