[This evening, Eddy returns to his dorm and finds a little snow globe on his desk, resting like a paperweight on a torn piece of notebook paper. There's a message penned in an unfamiliar and very messy hand. If questioned, the Thorntrail Junior Boys' unofficial sixth roommate, Buff Muscheron, is unwilling to say who left it.]

Pocket & the toadstools told me that you like the stars. I thought it was the damned coolest thing when yinz landed on the moon, myself. Wonder if I got any cousins up there. Anyway, it don't look like much, but keep it on you. Don't think you'll need it. We got it all under control.

[Eddy has received a Funky Snowglobe from Pouch. This trinket cools the air around it when it is shaken. It will have an additional use for end game, which we will elaborate on later.]

The snow globe earns a bemused look when Eddy first spies it, reminding him of a long ago souvenir shop gift that was too marked up for his Mama to afford. There's an immediate urge to shake a snow globe upon seeing one, and Eddy doesn't resist it, giving this one a firm shake. The shower of tacky star shaped glitter is expected, the sudden chill is not, but it's also not an unfamiliar experience these past few weeks.

The corners of his mouth pull up as he works to decipher the note, which seems to answer the immediate questions of 'how did you' and 'where did you'.

A small puff of air passes through his nostrils and he shakes the snow globe once more, amused. "Cool."

Tonight, he won't grumble once when Buff Muscheron takes over his desk for core training.
