what's up?

Friends and friendly acquaintances of Laszlo (including Pocket!) received an invitation to attend a dinner party in celebration of his birthday, set for 6pm on Sunday due to the rain that was expected on his actual birthday. It's located at the center gazebo in the friendlier of the two hedge mazes.

Several varieties of plants have been brought in to decorate the gazebo and there are a few carnivorous varieties, including an exceptional specimen of an uncommon magical species of venus flytrap. It has its own place at the dinner table next to Laszlo's seat and has a deep purple present bow tied around the pot with a sentimental card sitting under it. There is a tin of live mealworms nearby if anyone feels inclined to feed one of its thirty heads. They have a healthy appetite and just love to eat out of your hand!

⬦ BEFORE THE PARTY: Whatcha up to?

⬦ HEART OF THE MAZE: Where all the action is!! There are finger foods, entrees, and side dishes laid out for everyone to serve themselves at their leisure. Armani didn't have much luck at the liquor store so there's only Franzia available unless they brought their own to share.

⬦ RECREATIONAL POTIONS: It's fun to put things in your mouth!!! Thankfully, these potions Armani is serving up have been tested and produce a harmless sensory effect that lasts for a few minutes. Oh, but there's a spare small cauldron set aside in case the birthday boy feels inclined to take over.

⬦ PARTY GAMES: There are a few board games to play and a tower of magical giant jenga set up on the lawn. Some of the physics don't work the way you think they should and when the tower topples, it yelps.

⬦ ELSEWHERE: Did they explore one of the mazes? Get lost trying to get out? Was there an after-party party?

⬦ OOC - QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS!: If you want your character to have been invited, they're invited! If you want your character to party crash, they can party crash. 😎 It's supposed to be a low-key event, though, so if they get rowdy Armani will kindly ask Chanel to kick them out.

The smaller, furrier guests are not to be neglected either! Armani plays host to the familiars in attendance, laying out a blanket for them and using tea cup saucers as plates to serve them mealworms. They deserve the best.

Princess Cordelia looks stunning tonight in her little white lace shawl and tiny flowers in her hair. She's helping to co-host and sits perched on a pillow to welcome the other familiars to dine with her on her blanket kingdom. A long, thin tongue extends several feet to grab a single mealworm before retracting so she can daintily chew on it. Now that the princess has eaten, everyone else may eat.

Ramona & Armani & Furry Friends

"Oh, this is adorable," Ramona says as she happens upon the familiar tea party. Free Cat doesn't participate in this kind of pageantry and absolutely wouldn't let Ramona dress her up, but she can appreciate a good look on a pygmy puff as much as the next person. And of course she knows when she's in the presence of royalty.

"Your highness," she says with an awkward pantomimed curtsy before she sits down. She has a little plate of food for herself that she balances on one knee and is not put off by the mealworm meal in front of her at all. "Hi, Armani," she adds belatedly (with none of the same deference in her voice as she used to address his pet).
