Aristotle Ahn Did Some Investigations...
Aristotle Ahn has been given a mission of deathly importance. Find out how Mr. Qualls died. His quest takes him around campus and into town, let's see how it went...
Without wearing a mustache, he took his question to several teachers first, counting on either (a) them just answering it, or (b) using the natural legilimency he definitely inherited from his mom. The best teachers to ask are the ones who are locals, or who have otherwise been here the longest. It’s kind of hard to say exactly who that is, since some of the teachers are careful about their personal lives, but here is what he learns:
Well. That was illuminating. Moving on...
While wearing a (bad fake) mustache, Aris took the question to Elflock Falls next, and he asked several older people around town about it. Here is what he learned:
Without wearing a mustache, he took his question to several teachers first, counting on either (a) them just answering it, or (b) using the natural legilimency he definitely inherited from his mom. The best teachers to ask are the ones who are locals, or who have otherwise been here the longest. It’s kind of hard to say exactly who that is, since some of the teachers are careful about their personal lives, but here is what he learns:
- For the most part, members of staff are reluctant to talk about it, the general gist seems to be that they’re concerned about Mr. Qualls’ privacy. Mr. Crockett, however, can’t resist these kind of stories and shares that he believes it happened in a house fire. On the other hand, Healer Greatheart is almost positive it was falling rocks or a collapse of some sort.
- Mr. Purcell just begs Aris to please stop touching his forehead like that when he thinks he’s performing legilimency.
- Aris gets the sense that Bub has told him everything he knows about the incident, but Bub does not speak English, and Aristotle isn’t sure how to interpret those soft purring noises he makes. Thanks anyway, Bub!
- Ms. Gunzenhauser doesn’t like to gossip, but being so softhearted about her students, she confides in Aris that she’s fairly positive it was electrocution from a broken muggle device — untimely, certainly, but nothing worth investigating — and advises him not to bring it up to Mr. Qualls, as he’s been known to get a bit ‘glitchy’ when he talks about it.
- Ms. Altizer is among those who think it’s inappropriate to talk about the nature of Mr. Qualls' death behind his back. That is, until Mr. Berzelius swings by and blurts that, oh, Qualls, himself, told him it was a portkey accident. Ms. Altizer insists that he’s wrong: she’d been told that it was an accident with an experimental spell. The two of them start to argue in the main hall of central classrooms over who is more correct, and whether it’s splitting hairs if the spell misfired and caused a fire.
- CLAIMED. (Witnessed by: Chanel, Laszlo, Elijah)
Well. That was illuminating. Moving on...
While wearing a (bad fake) mustache, Aris took the question to Elflock Falls next, and he asked several older people around town about it. Here is what he learned:
- Zippy Zebrowski gets distracted first by how nice Aris’s mustache is, and then with reminiscing about how Mr. Qualls used to bring his son (...Sons? No. Wait. Son. It was just the one. He thinks.) in every Friday. Try as he might, Zippy just can’t recall what happened. “Amazing what you forget in thirty years, huh?” He seems to feel quite bad about it, though, oddly, not for long.
- ZIPPY DIP EMPLOYEES MAY HAVE WITNESSED THIS EXCHANGE. Comment below to confirm if you saw it!
- At Pizza Pi(e)rates, Bruno Ellerby seems to think it was tied to the mafia, or some secret organization like that. The way he delivers it, skeptical himself but also in a low whisper, makes it hard to tell whether he’s joking or not.
- Lir Liu still remembers the headline from when he died saving the mayor’s daughter, but the older woman with him tuts and shakes her head. “No, it was his daughter—no, son—no. He died saving his sister’s son.”
- At the Dis ‘n’ Dat, Jarvis Shamburger declines to speak on the matter, but Misters Pompel & Swint are nearby. Mr. Swint remembers that day like it was yesterday, except that once he tries to call it up, he simply can’t at all. He mentions there was a fire but he can’t recall where, or if that even had anything to do with it. Mr. Pompel jokes that this is a sign Mr. Swint should retire and leave him the shop. Anyway, everyone knows that it was an Artificing experiment gone wrong. Doesn’t Mr. Swint remember they closed Peckenpaugh and Elflock Local both for a week? Mr. Swint insists that was something else, and the two begin to argue about it in the middle of the store.
- CLAIMED (Witnessed by: Fred, Holland).
- During the hubbub between Misters Pompel & Swint, a professional woman who looks strikingly like Kyle from Spellunking sidles up to Aristotle and slips a note into his hand. “You’ve stumbled on the elephant in the room, kid.” She murmurs before wandering off. The note says ‘PUBLIC RECORDS IN THE LIBRARY, 1988 - 1990’

The character his PB is playing in this show does have psychic abilities. I could make so many of those icons. :')
