Tybalt had been a little worried about inviting his entire Quodpot team and all his attending Peckenfriends to one of his most sacred spaces, but he knew he'd need it after that game. And he had. The New England Aquarium had and continued to be one of the few places that could regularly calm all of Tybalt's roiling anxieties. And it's nice to stand here again, in front of the fish, now that all of those old ones had been dragged up again. Better than starting another fight with people who don't matter.
He's chipper again now, much more like himself, as he stands in front of the seadragon exhibit. "The game is supposed to be count all the ones you can find," He points out to whoever's next to him, "But if you look super closely, you can tell some of them are probably real baby sea serpents...see? The one with the shiny bubbles."
This is a wizard grade school myth, possibly, but Tybalt's never been smart enough to sort those out.
It's Like a Zoo for Fishies (AQUARIUM with Armani!!)
Ohh, Armani had liked Tybalt so much before November, giggling and glowing in his presence, but now he's become quite adept at finding fault in anything he does. The jealousy peaks and subsides depending on star alignments and the position of the moon but right now, the soft, watery glow cast on him from the aquarium lights only serves to make him look infuriatingly ethereal. It's already bad enough that he looks like a skinny sculpture of Antinous.
Armani stares at him intensely for several moments before snapping his attention back to the tank. "Wouldn't they eat the others?" he finally responds, trying to sound disinterested even though... damn, he really wants to learn about these alleged sea serpents now.
They were never so close and Tybalt's not so perceptive that he's noticed this brewing dislike. He's also too deep in his own thoughts, or at least fish observations, to realize he's being watched. When the silence is broken, he does note Armani's entrance into his orbit with a welcome smile. Like maybe he'd been at the brink all along.
The point he raises is one eight-year-old Tybalt also had, luckily, so he's here to provide the answer. At least the answer that had been given to him way back when, whose scientific accuracy had never been examined since. "Not if they're fed regularly. Which they are. They learn how to live with non-magical sea life this way. And then they're removed as adults."

It's sounds true and, besides, Armani doesn't know enough about sea serpents to question it.
"Then... the aquarium is run by magizoologists?" he asks quietly, voice full of childlike wonder. He steps closer to look for the one with the shiny bubbles, all too quickly giving up on his grudge. For the moment, anyway. "Is that normal? To hide in plain sight?"

"Not run by, but there's a few on staff." And that is true, because that's the only reason they bothered to tour in grade school at all. "It makes sense to use shared resources, when we can, and the city's big enough to fit everyone. There's a lot of mixing here. Like all the magic branches of the universities, you know?"
"Really?" Uriah's face is practically pressed to the glass. He feels like a real tourist, all wide-eyed and stupid, but this aquarium is massive, and so is Boston. He can't help it.
And sometimes he stares at Tybalt, too. Uriah had preened in front of the mirror all morning getting ready for the trip. At the game he'd studied all the rival players, wondering which one was the ex. It's just curiosity, really.
He pulls back blinking, and sees exactly what Armani sees, but his feelings about Tybalt illuminated in deep blues is pretty different. His hand bumps into Tybalt's as he tries to point to the one he means. "That one?"
Uriah's wonder makes the corner of his mouth go up, and also makes Tybalt wish they had more time, here. Enough to show off more of the hidden places he has around the city. They're not all so beautiful as this, but he thinks Uriah would like them.
Point is, he hadn't even been looking closely when he talked, because he'd been stealing glances. Watching Uriah watch the fish was much more fulfilling than just the first. Tybalt's not the only one who looks good illuminated by the shifting waters.
When he's almost caught, he turns his attention back to the tank, easily enough. He spots very suspect shiny bubbles, and grabs the hand near his, just to point with both their fingers. "No, there. See? There's something different."
