Welcome Back Peckenpaugh! Festival

welcome back peckenpaugh festival
what's up? Nothing livens up the sleepy town of Elflock Falls quite like the start of the academic year, and the locals have put together an impressive celebration to welcome their students back. Elflock Falls’s main drag has been transformed into a street carnival, with several rides and midway games, stands for food both local and from far away, and stalls selling goods or giving away career information. All day, the smell of fried food and sugar hangs heavily in the hot September air while live music (featuring Elflock’s own local dad band) mixes with the tinny melodies of carnival rides well into the night. It’s the perfect atmosphere for a gaggle of teenage friends to loiter, or maybe a couple to find a romantic adventure.

While the Welcome Back festival runs until Sunday, the first night is the liveliest and today only Peckenpaugh students are let out of class early and given free admittance to all rides as well as tickets good for a couple of free games and free food. It’s also the only day to hit your teachers with a pie, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Laszlo Pataki is on fire tonight! Uh, not literally. I mean, they win every Midway game they try. Win me a prize, Laszlo!

Wyatt Webberley pilfers a pie from the Truth or Pie table and manages to nail Edgar Waxweiler in the face with it.

Armani Addams got separated from their friends in line for the ferris wheel and wound up riding with an incredibly awkward Malstrom Academy junior. They were nice, just painfully uncomfortable.

Imogen Rainwater and Merlin Pletcher don't intend to ride the ferris wheel together, but wind up paired off and stopped at the top, anyway.

Bearigold is digging for treasure in a trashcan just on the edge of the carnival. Anthony De Witt spots her and shares a snack with her to send her on her way before she gets caught.
locations! 🎡 WHAT'S UP?: Just how many candied apples did you eat, hm? And what were you wearing when your date puked on your shoes from one too many goes on the Gravitron? Were you eager to check things out, or did your friends have to drag you downtown? Let us know how you spent the day.

🎡 THE MIDWAY: Feeling lucky? Check out (definitely not rigged) carnival games like ring toss, skeeball and the high striker. Mayor Hull’s manning the milk bottle topple booth and boy does she have a knack for making you feel like you just might win this time. You could try your hand at the bingo table, but June Morgenstern has won every single pot for the last thirty years, and in all likelihood will continue to win until the heat death of the universe. Interspersed between the game booths are stalls selling junk food, Peckenpaugh and Elflock Falls paraphernalia and cheesy carnival souvenirs. BoMB and BoNE have career booths set up, and on the far end of the Midway is a long table where Peckenpaugh’s staff is hanging out...

🎡 TRUTH OR PIE: Have a question you’ve always wanted to ask your teachers? A trivia challenge you know they’re not up to? Then step right up and take aim with a Fyodor Dostoyevs-cream pie from the Gastrognome! The corporeal contingent of Peckenpaugh’s staff is here to answer your dumbest questions and meet your worst challenges. Should they fail the test, try to circumvent the truth, or abstain from answering, then let that pie fly! Or gently place it near their face if you value your GPA.

🎡 THE RIDES: Elflock Falls sprung for a lot of spin this year. Near the River Walk, there are swings, the dreaded Gravitron (repurposed from a muggle version), and a delightful magical ferris wheel that sits up to three per floating seat. Students are permitted to ride unlimited this evening only. It all lights up and looks gorgeous at night, so even if you’re not a thrill seeker, it’s worth checking out the scenery. Just...ignore the puke right outside the Gravitron.

🎡 DON'T BLOW CHUNKS: Kermit Creekmore and Jupiter Quigley have cooked up a game for Peckenpaugh’s biggest risk takers: whoever can ride the Gravitron the most times without puking wins a “fabulous gift.”

🎡 THE CANTINA: The plaza outside city hall has been set up with a large outdoor stage, booths for food and plenty of seating. Grab some sweet potato fries or a gyro and listen to the musical stylings of The Dad Band and The Accountants of Soul or check out Bruno Ellerby rocking the accordion proper.

🎡 ELSEWHERE & EVENING: This spot is for any scenes that don't take place at the festival. Did your student skip to hang out under the pitch bleachers? Want to do a late evening scene with your dormmates turning in for the night? Here's your spot!
