Though excited to see Lionel, Holland is clearly less excited at his drink request. Even as she starts to pour water for him into a cup, she's making the tiniest pouting face. "You're sure you don't want something more fun? I can put a lemon in this, at least."
Lionel doesn't usually drink infused beverages, but he will today for Holland. He can tell it's important. "Sure. Lemon sounds fine. But oh, you didn't put any ice in there did you?"
He'd been looking around and not paying close attention.
Holland looks more pleased than she probably should about popping a lemon slice in Lionel's water, and she's about to offer it to him when he asks about ice. She raises her wand, gently resting it on the glass, ready to do what's asked of her.
"No, did you want some? Or I can just chill it, too, if you'd prefer."
There's no missing the face Lionel pulls, and Holland unintentionally mirrors the expression. She reaches out with her wand to vanish the lemon slice to give him some relief. He had tried, at least.
"Do you think you're going to ask Val?" she inquires, to guide the conversation. She doesn't want to be nosy and pushy, but... ok, she wants to be nosy and a tiny bit pushy.
Lionel takes a long, procrastinating sip of lemon-free water. He should've known this question was coming. He'd normally deflect such a personal inquiry, but avoiding it feels like it'd give the subject more weight than he feels it deserves. "Yes," Lionel tells Holland before going in on a second large sip.
"Oh!" Any disappointment in Holland's expression regarding the lemon is gone. She'd done it!! She's so successful!!
"You're going to have so much fun. And Val's going to look so pretty." She sighs, almost a little wistful, as she starts to mix herself a drink. "The theming is a little unfortunate, but that's fine, you'll both make do."
Holland is talking like this is a done deal, but Lionel's sweaty palms say otherwise. He mumbles something about how he hasn't even asked yet, but it's said quietly and into his cup, so it might go unheard.
"Do you have a costume idea for yourself?" he asks, lowering his drink. Perhaps hearing Holland's will give him an idea for his. Something better than a sports coat and his tie with planets on it. He knows his audience well enough not to admit that's the current leader in the clubhouse.
Holland doesn't really hear what Lionel says into his cup, and she's not going to ask. It can't be anything too serious, or he'd look more concerned. And he wouldn't move on to another topic so quickly.
While stirring her drink, she lets out another sigh. "Nyx, I think, Goddess of the Night. That's space-themed. And spooky-ish." Ok, not spooky, but she's never cared that much about that aspect of Halloween anyway. "I'll do some make-up so it's costume-y and not just a nice dress. Do you have any ideas? I bet Val will have tons if you don't."

He takes a sip and his face contracts violently. He'd forgotten about the lemon. "Refreshing," he forces out.
