PRIM NAUTICAL PICNIC

what's up?

Today, Holland and Valkyrie are hosting a lovely picnic by the lake, themed with anchors, sea shells and motifs of sea creatures. It's all of a romantic, bygone era. Large umbrellas shade the picnickers, who can lounge on pillows as they enjoy their lunch and mocktails.

It has not descended into chaos.

[Volunteer A] tries to step out onto one of the rowboats, but it slips out from underneath them! They're stuck in the splits for a moment before topping into the water.

[Volunteer B] tries their best to get into a rowboat with a cute classmate, but instead ends up stuck on the lake with a freshman distraught because [Volunteer C] won't go to homecoming with them. Any advice on how to get them to say yes? Hitting them in the back of the neck with a spitball didn't work.

[Volunteer D] can't seem to keep these wasps away from their danish! Shoo!

how this works!

⬥ Although Holland and Val mostly invited their friends, anyone can join in. Val will pretend she's fine with it.

⬥ Snacks were provided by Jupiter, who promised they'd be "like normal."

⬥ There are three mocktails to choose from!

• Salty Dog: honestly just grapefruit juice with a salt/sugar rim and a lime slice.
  
• Royal Regatta: apple juice, elderflower and rose pressé, and mint leaves
  
• Blue Lagoon: non-alcoholic curacao syrup, club soda, lemon juice, simple syrup, crushed ginger, mint

⬥ You can do boat scenes with whomever, don't feel like the pairing list we generated are the only people who can touch the boats!

⬥ Today is partly cloudy, and you might want to bring a light jacket! Themed outfits are encouraged.

⬥ If you monsters start racing boats I'll try to RNG times.

Val stares, frozen in a smile that she has to struggle to control. Is he asking her out? He's no Harrison, but maybe Harrison should have moved faster! Or maybe Lionel's asking for a friend? So she can't get too excited. Keep the smile steady. Be coy. Be cute.

"Why are you asking?" she says sweetly. Cedar may be a ticking time bomb to Lionel, but Val remains unconcerned.

"I'm wondering if you wanted to go to Homecoming together," he finally says plainly, and once the words are out, a wave of relief washes over him. Not unlike someone who's finally coughed up the piece of food that's been choking and threatening to kill them.

"And it's okay if you don't," he adds before anyone else can speak. It's meant to be thoughtful, not self-deprecating.
