Self-appointed medium, Viola Warbeck, has a million questions she would like to ask. Some she would ask more readily if she weren't surrounded by so many of her peers. But this one is the most important. "Are you trapped here, Lionel?"
Fled from guilt. Lost in between worlds. Viola feels stupid and foolish for delaying her search for Lionel all of this time. But she's cautious, too.
"Do you know why ... we're not allowed to remember you?" She doesn't know if that will make sense to him or if it will come as a horrible, harrowing shock to know that he's being intentionally forgotten. "Do you know why the lichen grows?"
The planchette hovers over several different letters, though never long enough to tell if it's trying to spell something. Round and around, until it finally settles on 'S' and begins to spell again:
Viola's eyes dart around the board to her friends. This throws a bit of a wrench in her binary understanding of the good and evil inherent in the entities at this school. Something in her tells her to trust Lionel Qualls, though. He's just a kid, after all. Maybe one that made a mistake but ... who hasn't?
"Do you want to return?" Her classmates have the opportunity to stop her but they'll have to be convincing.

"Lionel, the moss is threatened."
& IT...DOES SOMETHING?
The temperature drops, cool, cooler, cold, until the gathered students can see each breath they take exhaled as a puff of white steam.
"Um, who's Lionel?" comes a voice from everywhere.
And then, the spirit board begins to shake...
